Tinariwen & Tuung

What a night - went to the De la Warr Pavillion last night to see Tuung (English dance folksters) and Tinariwen (Tuareg/Mali desert blues purveyors) - a curious mix which seemed to work rather well.

Tinariwen, great as usual, came on-stage dressed in their desert gear and rocked the place with one of those camel-riding rhythms, and twangy electric and accoustic guitars, and were then joined by Tuung, 2 guitars, drums/percussion, keyboards/programming and 3 vocals.

Very dancy and a great overall sound, which occasionally bordered on prog, which was fine by me.

Everybody I have ever known in Hastings & Bexhill were there as well, so altogether a very lovely time.
