Going.... going.... gone!

Subjected one of my new paintings to an auction of art at Hastings Arts-Forum on Friday night. It was a well-attended event with all money going to the Arts-Forum itself. They've had a bit of a financial crisis recently, and Janet & I felt (as did loads of others) that we need to support them in any way possible (within reason!!!). The Forum has improved the arts situation in Hastings, a town that's full of artists, writers, poets and musicians, no end, and the gallery spaces on the sea-front are a really nice focal point. Both our paintings sold quite well, and the evening was good fun all round - and surprisingly nerve-tingling, as it is a very direct form of art-criticism.

On Saturday, went for a long walk to our favourite place, the top of the South Downs above the Long Man of Wilmington - it's a long climb, but once at the top, well worth it. Amazing views to Newhaven, inland across to the North Downs and to Hastings. The dog loves it (he loves everything) due largely to the rabbit population being large and visible. We love it 'cos it's a great walk, and very often followed either by a pint at the Cricketers' Arms in Berwick or tea & cake in Littlington - either way good.
Valentines night brought a very lovely and romantic dinner for two at the White Dog in Ewhurst Green, near Bodiam (see Bodiam Castle), nice pub, nice pot-roast pork, nice evening.
