A Winter's Tale

Been snowing here a few days now, and as usual, the South East UK comes to a complete standstill. Poor commuters stuck on trains outside Orpington Station all night, lorry drivers on main roads for 2 days - all a bit disastrous really.

Still, it looks very pretty. Unfortunately I'm stuck in Tunbridge Wells being a good worker, and not (like the rest of the country) at home, in my case in Battle with my beloved and the dog, walking through the woods and taking loads of photos, then back to the house for soup or something else warming, probably brandy. Dammit!!

It does bring out the Dunkerque spirit though. I had started walking into work this morning, and I saw a huge Volvo 4x4 pull out of one of the side turnings. Bless him, he stopped, wound down the window and shouted "want a lift?". Rarely have three words been so welcome. It had heated seats as well. Now I just have to walk back again. Who knows, maybe a good samaritan will give me a lift home as well.

Edinburgh has been a disaster as well. On Monday all the buses were cancelled throughout the afternoon. The pavements are so dangerous and two of my work colleagues have been injured slipping on the ice - one broke her leg and another has a concusion.

Still - heated seats! Swoon.
