Good Samaritans

Came to work on Saturday, only to get snowed in at the bottom of Tunbridge Wells - I was determined to get back to J in Battle (20 miles away) for the weekend, so resolved to walk, in the hope that some kind soul might stop and give me a lift.

Thankfully, this is exactly what happened. Got to the top of the road, heard a car coming, stuck out a thumb and a 4x4 ground to a halt. "Need a lift?" "Yes please" "I can take you to Frant Station" - brilliant I thought - I'll get a train there to Battle. Trains weren't running, so thought I'd best walk again.

Half a mile further on, heard another car coming. "Need a lift?" "Yes please" "I can take you to Robertsbridge" - even more brilliant, as that's only 5 miles from home.

It gets better - got on really well with Les and Amanda - she's an estate agent in TWells, they have a springador etc etc - and they ended up driving me to Battle. Must have walked less than 2 miles in total, and felt very pleased with myself, and with the human race in general. Ah, the milk of human kindness. Well, thanks to the universe for that.
