But carry on it does, and we are now looking forward to a peaceful Christmas at home followed by, for me, a 50th birthday in January!! We were thinking about going away to Iceland for a week, and spend the 12th (the dreaded day) holed up in a little hotel an hour and a half out of Reykjavik under the Northern Lights. But what with Otis and all the snow we've been having here in the UK over the last few weeks, I seem to have lost my enthusiasm for all things chilly.
I think I have decided therefore to go away a little later in the Spring and, since I am not a party animal, just celebrate the old half century with Janet in a flash restaurant somewhere close by. I say "just", but I can't really think of anything more enjoyable than that.
In the meantime, it's our own little xmas meal at the pub in Boreham Street on Thursday, Xmas eve with Mum & Dad in Tunbridge Wells, Xmas day with Gillie, Layla and John in Little Common and so on. Thankfully, work is not featuring much this year's end, so will be able to enjoy an easy time in Battle, with just the latest squash league to keep me from terminal gluttony.
Played our usual solstice gig in Hastings last night. Janet DJ'd admirably, and as far as Drumfire were concerned, all went adequately, but have to say my heart's wasn't really in it for some reason.

Last two numbers were good though, as we were joined by old drum chums Vincent and Julian. Vincent was my first real African drum teacher having got the drumming bug again 10 years or so ago - he's a great drummer and an inspirational kind of guy, as is Julian who used to play in our band. A night for seeing friends old and new.
Enough for now.
