Libya

Can't help feeling we're getting ourselves into trouble again with Libya. Let's hope not - I know it's a terrible situation out there for Libyan folk, both under Gaddafi and being bombed by the coalition, and I know there are two sides to every story, but I am very uneasy about what is happening.

Rather a strange thing though - was listening to Radio 4 yesterday and their news coverage of the bombing and they played a soundclip of an Air Vice Marshall claiming Gaddafi could have no viable airforce any more due to the coalition's relentless bombing and missile attacks. There was this voice I hadn't heard for 32 years.

Turns out that Air Vice Marshall Gregg Bagwell was in the year below me at school. An unlikely chap to invest so much responsibility in - amusingly, from memory he had a healthy disregard for authority. I used to try to boss him around, unsuccessfully - funny old world, although to be fair, not for those in the Middle East at the mo.
