Bonfire

It was Battle Bonfire (or as the Battle Bonfire Boyes spell it, Battel) last Saturday, and it's all getting a bit depressing. J tells me it was fantastic when they held the whole thing on the Green in front of the Abbey, but now, because of health and safety, it has to be on the Abbey ground, and means everyone has to march penguin-style down the High Street, through gates at the bottom and into the field that way - the public are herded this way and that, and are segregated from the bonfire and well away from the fun. Added to the unceremonious way some of the marshalls were dealing with the public, it all just pisses everybody off. And it rained - so what should have been a fun night resulted in me being in a bad mood for a couple of days. Thank you Batt-el Bonfire.

The exhibition is now over so we might get our life back. However, a new gallery space - The Towner in Eastbourne - is just opening with an exhibition that anyone can submit to - J went to the briefing meeting, and evidently the space is very big and white, so they are asking submitting artists to "think big". To this end, I have just ordered two stretchers each 2 meters x 1 meter, in the hope that I might feel inspired enough to do a couple of huge paintings. Will have to strap them to the roof of my car. Will keep you up to date with progress as & when.

The dog has got over his depression after the beating he took a month or so back, and now scoffs his food just like he used to. Bless.
