Norfolk and John Woody

Went for a weekend in the camper to Norfolk to check out puppies again (more later). This coincided with our looking after John Woody, an oldish (9) Golden Retriever belonging to Michael, a lovely ex-client of ours. He was no trouble and, bearing in mind we were shut in the van with him all night, very quiet and well-behaved. We exhausted him on Sunday with a longish walk along the river by Houghton Mill campsite, after which he slept for the rest of the day, but he enjoyed a bit of swimming and ate well.

We have decided against getting that particular pup very sadly (he was a lovely little chap) because he was just too much like dear old Otis, and we had already started comparing the two. Just wasn't going to be fair on him or us. So the search is still on.

On the return journey, stopped off at this little church near Ongar, reputedly the oldest timber structure standing in Europe, dating back to just pre-Norman Conquest 1060 - lovely little place that made me feel like a viking. Then went for a walk across the valley and got soaked to the skin in a cloudburst on the way back.

All in all, a lovely and too short weekend.
